Thirteen wire systems allow you to pick up three signals from different broadcasters. This works by having three satellite which can also be called a 3-sat system.
The thirteen wire system comes into the building via the three satellites and splits off into different switching units, From this point the signal gets
amplified and carried over to the various points throughout the building. With the thirteen wire system, you can have access to three signals. for
example, one satellite could be on ASTRA 28.2°E which is Sky/SkyHD and the other two satellites could be programmed to pick up Hotbird 13°E
multilanguage channels. For example, one could be French and the third could be Spanish.
Astra 28.2°E is the name of the group of Astra communications satellites co-located at the 28.2° East position in the Clark Belt that is owned and operated by SES.
SES is based in Betzdof, Luxembourg. It is one of the major TV satellite positions serving Europe (the others being at 19.2° East, 13° East, 23.5° East and 5° East. The satellites at the 28.2° E position primarily provide digital TV, digital radio and multimedia services to the UK and Republic of Ireland, broadcasting more than 470 TV, radio and interactive channels to homes in the UK and Ireland
Hot Bird is a group of satellites operated by Eutelsat, located at 13° East over the Equator and with a transmitting footprint over Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East.
